Junior Digital Merchandiser
Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Reports to: Managing Director, Tradeshi
Job Summary:
Tradeshi, an official channel partner of Alibaba.com in Bangladesh, is seeking a dynamic and ambitious Junior Digital Merchandiser to join our team. This role is key to our new venture into becoming a buying house, specializing in apparel, jute, and other goods. The successful candidate will manage our Verified Supplier account, engage with foreign buyers, and drive rapid revenue growth. This is a unique merchandising role with significant growth potential, as we expect the candidate to develop their own team and take on a leadership position based on performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Account Management:
- Operate and manage Tradeshi’s Verified Supplier account on Alibaba.com, ensuring the profile is optimized and attractive to potential buyers.
- Regularly update product listings, respond to buyer inquiries, and maintain a high standard of communication on the platform.
- Monitor account performance metrics and implement strategies to enhance visibility and buyer engagement.
2. Buyer Engagement:
- Identify and connect with potential foreign buyers for apparel, jute, and other products.
- Leverage various internet tools and platforms to engage buyers of all sizes, from small businesses to large corporations.
- Respond promptly and professionally to buyer inquiries, negotiating terms, and closing deals.
- Develop and present product samples to potential buyers, working closely with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery.
3. Supplier Coordination:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers, ensuring they meet the quality and production standards required by foreign buyers.
- Coordinate with suppliers to develop and refine product samples that align with buyer specifications.
- Manage the logistics of sample production and delivery, ensuring all deadlines are met.
4. Deal Closure & Revenue Generation:
- Focus on rapidly closing deals with foreign buyers to generate revenue.
- Track and report on sales performance, ensuring that KPIs are met or exceeded.
- Work collaboratively with the Managing Director and other team members to develop strategies for revenue growth.
5. Career Growth & Leadership:
- Demonstrate strong leadership potential by taking initiative and showing results in a fast-paced environment.
- Aim to quickly grow into a managerial role, based on achieving personal KPIs and contributing to the company’s OKRs (Objectives and Key Results).
- Embody a “Bangladesh 2.0” spirit, demonstrating passion, innovation, and a strong work ethic in all aspects of the role.
- Be presentable and act as the face of Tradeshi’s sourcing and buying solution, representing the company in all buyer interactions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized fashion institute or BGMEA University, with a focus on merchandising, fashion design, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in merchandising, preferably in the apparel or jute industry.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms, particularly Alibaba.com.
- Technically savvy, with the ability to leverage various internet tools and platforms for buyer engagement.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with buyers and suppliers.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ambitious, with a strong desire to grow, develop a team, and take on leadership responsibilities.
- Presentable and confident, with the ability to represent Tradeshi’s sourcing and buying solution to potential buyers.
